Podium Wall Mural Havannah House, Glasgow

10/08/2018

Mural featuring illustrated Glasgow landmarks applied directly to the wall using adhesive vinyl situated above a large plywood podium seating area. Commissioned by Dutch architectural firm Vastint for Havannah House Luxury Student Accommodation in Glasgow.

The centrepiece for this humorous illustrated collage is the statue of the Duke of Wellington complete with traffic cone on his head! It seemed fitting for student accommodation and the client loved it! Either side of the Duke stands various local buildings including the SEC Armadillo, Glasgow School of Art & Gallery of Modern Art. The design also features two cows… a nod to the fact that those given the ‘Freedom of the City’ are allowed to graze their cattle on the green!!

As per the architects request I used a strict colour palette to tie in with the colour scheme throughout the building.

The client was on a tight deadline in order to open the doors of the accommodation for term time so this mural has been applied to the wall using self adhesive wallpaper. Again I worked closely with the amazing team at Robertson Construction who helped on-site with scaffolds, platforms, access, Glaswegian hospitality & battered haggis!
