TV Wall Mural Havannah House, Glasgow

15/09/2018

Communal TV area mural applied on vinyl and commissioned by Dutch architectural firm Vastint for Havannah House Luxury Student Accommodation in Glasgow.

Had lots of fun creating this one!! Vastint were keen for me to design and illustrate a backdrop to the communal television area, once again keeping it humorous with  links to the local area. Luckily for me the inventor of the television, John Logie Baird, was from Scotland, studied in Glasgow and transmitted the worlds first long distance transmission from London to the Central Hotel at Glasgow Central Station. Taking this as an influence my design featured a stack of wonky retro T.V’s piled up showing various broadcasts of other characters in my murals featured around the building.

As per the architects request I used a strict colour palette to tie in with the colour scheme throughout the building.

The client was on a tight deadline in order to open the doors of the accommodation for term time so this mural has been applied to the wall using self adhesive wallpaper. Again I worked closely with the amazing team at Robertson Construction who helped on-site with scaffolds, platforms, access, word of wisdom & Glaswegian humour!
